Over freestyle wrestling at the Tokyo Games, Iran’s Hassan Yazdani has reached the semifinals in the 86 kg category.
Yazdani, who is the favorite to win gold in this weight category, got his campaign off to a strong start outmuscling the Uzbek Wrestler 11 to 2 in the first round.
He then made quick work of Stefan Reichmuth of Switzerland in the quarterfinals to win the game by Technical superiority in around 2 minutes. Yazdani will face Russian wrestler Artur Naifonov for a place in the final.
In the 57 kg category, Reza Atri also displayed some brilliant moves to enter the last 4 in Tokyo. The Iranian edged out a 3-2 win over Turkey’s Suleyman Atli in the first round, before defeating Mongolia’s Erdenebat Bekhbayar 5-1 in the quarterfinals. Atri will next fight Zavur Uguev of Russia for a place in the final.
