Intro 7

While the seven candidates in Iran’s 2021 presidential election have spent much of their campaigning efforts since mid-March on laying out their own plans, they have more recently started to take clearer notice of one another’s ideas and to engage in one-on-one exchanges, even if online.

Once full-blown, that stage of campaigning is expected to captivate voters — and win over swing votes — in a more substantial manner. Meanwhile, a first live presidential debate is scheduled for Saturday, in what would be the candidates’ first opportunity to directly take on one another. A lot of heat is anticipated there, especially since one candidate is perceived as close to the incumbent President Hassan Rouhani administration and his economic policies. Keep visiting this page for the latest on the June 18 presidential election, including the live debates.

This is Iran’s 13th presidential election, and it will be covered here in full.
