Conway slams Biden for failing to offer help to Trump over coronavirus

White House adviser Kellyanne Conway

Senior White House adviser Kellyanne Conway has criticized former Vice President Joe Biden for not calling US President Donald Trump to offer assistance or support amid the coronavirus outbreak.

“I think it’s really disappointing to have President Obama’s number two, who apparently doesn’t talk much to him, out there criticizing instead of saying, hey, here’s what we did that we thought was effective,” Conway said Wednesday on Fox News.

“Why doesn’t Vice President Biden call the White House today and offer some support? He’s in his bunker in Wilmington, and I have to tell you we’re not talking about politics here at the White House at all. We’re talking about ventilators and vaccines, not Biden and Bernie,” she added.

Recently, in a series of speeches and TV interviews Biden called Trump’s virus response insufficient, saying that although Trump is not responsible for the virus, he is responsible for not taking the outbreak seriously in the early days.

“The coronavirus is not the president’s fault, but the slow response, the failure to get going right away, the inability to do the things that needed to be done quickly, they are things that they can’t continue,” Biden told NBC Sunday.

Over 4,000 people have already died from covid-19, the illness caused by the coronavirus, in the United States, more than the 2,977 who died in the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.

The total confirmed US cases have now risen to nearly 188,600.

Trump's top health advisers said on Tuesday that models show between 100,000 and 240,000 Americans could die from the virus even if the country keeps stringent social distancing guidelines in place.

Without any measures to mitigate the spread, those projections jump to between 1.5 and 2.2 million deaths.
