German Club RB Leipzig have sealed a spot in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals, after eliminating English Club Tottenham Hotspur 3-nil in the 2nd leg of their last 16-tie at the Red Bull Arena.
The hosts took a 1-nil lead just 10 minutes into the match, when Marcel Sabitzer scored with a powerful shot from the edge of the box. Zabitzer, then scored his brace with a precise header to make it 2-nil, in favor of Leipzig before half-time.
Emil Forsberg completed the Londoner's misery, after tapping the ball home from close range with 12 minutes remaining. With the result, Leipzig defeated Tottenham 4-nil on aggregate, and are through to the next round of the competition.
Meanwhile, Serie A club Atalanta eased past Valencia 8-4 on aggregate, after beating the Spanish Club 4-3 in the 2nd leg of their Champions League last-16 tie at Mestalla Stadium behind closed doors, due to the Coronavirus outbreak.
It was a thrilling encounter between the 2 sides as Yosep Ilichich scored twice to give Atalanta a 2-1 lead in the first half. Valencia, however, fought back and scored two goals to take a 3-2 lead in the 67th minute.
But, that was not the end of the drama, as Ilichich completed his haul to give Atalanta the win, wrapping-up his historic night with 4 goals. With the victory, Atalanta are the first Champions League Debutants to reach the quarter-finals of the event.
