The Palestinian Authority slammed US ambassador to Israel David Friedman’s views as racist and reflecting the Jewish colonial nature of the deal of the century.

Freidman on Wednesday emphasizing that Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank are not in violation of international law and that the American administration’s goal now is to help Israel annex the occupied West Bank, claiming that the territory historically had an important Jewish presence.

Israel’s minister of military affairs Naftali Bennet has meanwhile released more controversial statements, Bennet said Israel is waging a real battle against the Palestinians for control of Area C of the occupied West Bank, as he declared officially that the territory belongs to Israel, and that Tel Aviv will apply sovereignty to all of Area C, not just the Israeli settlements. Bennett said, through the expansion of settlements Israel is looking to ensure that within a decade a million Jews will live in the occupied West Bank.

According to anti-settlement groups currently there are about half a million Israeli settlers in the West Bank with almost 250 thousand more living in Jerusalem al-Quds.

Palestinians have repeatedly warned that the US move in considering Israeli settlements not in violation of international law gives the green light to Israel to annex West Bank settlements. Now they say this is exactly what Israel is doing.
