Iran's president said resolution of the Yemen crisis is a key to ending regional problems, including the stand-off between Iran and Saudi Arabia. He made the remarks at a presser in Tehran.

He also said Iran is open to regional talks and confirmed travels by Emirati officials to Tehran over the past months to resolve bilateral issues. But he said rocket attacks on an Iranian tanker on Friday have made things more difficult. The Iranian tanker was attacked off the Saudi port city of Jeddah on Friday.

Rouhani also said Tehran will continue to scale back its commitments to the 2015 nuclear agreement until the European Union fulfils promises it made under the deal.

Iran has gradually scaled back its nuclear commitments since May after the US pulled out of the deal and has called on European parties to the pact to salvage the deal by shielding Iran's economy from US penalties.

To a question about new negotiations with the United States, President Hassan Rouhani had this to say to reporters. Elsewhere in his remarks, President Rouhani said the country has successfully dealt with the pressure of sanctions, stressing that the US and Israeli plots to harm the Islamic Republic have gone nowhere.

Iran and the remaining parties launched talks to save the JCPOA after the US withdrawal, but the three EU parties to the deal (France, Britain, and Germany) have failed to ensure Iran’s economic interests.

The EU’s inaction forced Tehran to stop honoring certain commitments to the nuclear deal, including a rise in the stockpile of enriched uranium. Iran maintains that the new measures are designed to save the accord by creating a balance in the commitments.
