In the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup, Germany have suffered a 68-70 defeat at the hands of the Dominican Republic in their 2nd group match.
The Germans, who had lost to France in their opening game, seemed to be on their path to victory as they led 21-16 at the end of the 1st quarter, but the Dominicans upped their game and cut the deficit to 2 points at Half-time.
The Caribbean took the matter into their hands with a buzzer bitter to take a 55-52 lead into the final quarter, where they held onto the advantage to seal their 2nd win in Group G. The Dominican Republic will play France in their final Group Game.
Also in Group F of the tournament, Brazil just about overcame Greece 79 to 78. The Greeks had a strong start in the game as they led by as many as 17 points in the first-half. The South Americans, who were not prepared to throw in the towel, got back on track in the 3rd quarter to erase the deficit and take a 56-53 lead into the final frame, where they never trailed again.
With the win, Brazil booked their spot in the 2nd round of the event. Anderson Varejao had 22 points and 9 rebounds, while Giannis Antetokounmpo, who fouled out with 4 seconds left, chipped in 13 points.
