The Italian Open defending champion Rafael Nadal has cruised past Fernando Verdasco, to roll into a semifinal clash against the Greek sensation, Stefanos Tsitsipas.
Falling off the pace at 3-1 in favor of Verdasco, the world number two Nadal got back to his winning ways after converting two breaks and further break points to clinch a hard-earned 6-4 in the first set.
Nadal then got off to a stellar form in the second to inflict a devastating 6-love on his compatriot Verdasco, marking the third successive match in which he has blanked an opponent during a set.
With the win, the second-seeded Nadal will have to face Stefanos Tsitsipas on Saturday, en route to the final showdown in Rome.
