Kashmir shuts to protest local municipal elections

In Indian controlled Kashmir pro-independence groups have called for a shutdown to oppose the 4 phased urban local body election starting October 8th. Security has been heightened in and around the region following the elections. Pro freedom groups have asked people to stay away from the electoral process in order to make the struggle relevant.
