Motorsports: Valtteri Bottas beats Hamilton to pole position in Russian Grand Prix

Valtteri Bottas has secured a one-two for Mercedes at the Russian Grand Prix, beating teammate Lewis Hamilton to pole position.

Bottas was 0.145 seconds ahead of Hamilton and 0.56 seconds ahead of 3rd-placed Sebastian Fettel, who is 40 points off Hamilton in the title race.

The Brit was the fastest in the first 2 qualifying sessions, but went wide on his Last Fast Lap and had to abandon his challenge.

The Red Bulls of Daniel Richiardo and Max Verstappen have grid penalties for Sunday's race, as do the 2 Toro Rossos and McLaren's Fernando Alonso.
