The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) on Tuesday pushed for a non-military solution in easing tensions with North Korea, while expressing support for Japan and South Korea.
NATO's Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg spoke to journalists at the Japan Press Club in Tokyo. Earlier today, Stoltenberg met Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to discuss North Korea's repeated missile tests and nuclear weapons program.
Pyongyang has undertaken an unprecedented missile testing programme in recent months, as well as its biggest nuclear test yet in early September.
Stoltenberg's trip to Tokyo comes ahead of US President Donald Trump's first official visit to Asia, which starts in Japan on November 5.
