Some 1500 Palestinian prisoners launch hunger strike

Some 1,500 Palestinians held in Israeli jails have started a mass hunger strike in protest against their dire conditions. The strike began early on Monday. Israel says it has sent special units tasked with quelling riots and disorder to the prisons where hunger strikes are taking place.
