FISU picks three Iranians for committees

The International University Sports Federation (FISU) has elected two Iranian sports officials and a young sportswoman as new members of different committees at the governing body responsible for the organization and governance of worldwide competitions for student athletes.

Mohammad Reza Dehkhoda, President of the National University Sports Federation of the Islamic Republic of Iran, joined representatives from other countries as a member of the International Control Committee (CIC) which verifies that the participants fulfill the conditions of participation.

Seyed Abdulhamid Ahmadi was also elected to the International Technical Committee (CTI), which draws up the competition program and ensures the good running of the event besides Media and Communication Committee (CMC).

The CMC inspects and controls all the infrastructure and technical means provided to the press, and cooperates with international media to ensure media coverage of FISU events.

Moreover, Iranian female sports shooter Najmeh Khedmati was named to the Student Committee (CE), which represents the student athletes and student managers involved in university sports organizations in addition to Committee for Gender Equality (CEG) responsible for studying all the projects aiming at developing women's sport within FISU and its member associations.

FISU was established on January 1, 1949 and was based in Brussels, Belgium, until 2011, when it moved headquarters to Lausanne, Switzerland.

It currently has 170 member associations from five continents, and is the only international federation with more than 50 sports on its competition program

FISU stages its sports events every two years. They include two Universiades (summer and winter editions) as well as World University Championships.
