Corbyn reshuffles shadow cabinet
The British opposition leader has reshuffled his shadow cabinet as part of efforts to tighten control over some rebellious members.
Labour Party announced that Emily Thornberry would replace Maria Eagle as defense spokeswoman.
Media reports say, Eagle was in favor of renewing Britain's nuclear-armed Trident submarine program, putting her at odds with Corbyn who has argued that the more than $147 billion price tag to replace the country's deterrent could be better used. Thornberry has voted against renewing Trident.
Meanwhile, Europe Shadow Secretary Pat McFadden said he had been sacked in part because of comments he made in parliament on the causes of terrorism.
Another member of the shadow cabinet, culture spokesman Michael Dugher, was also sacked.
Some sources say Corbyn had questioned some leading lawmakers' loyalty.
The party's shadow foreign minister Hilary Benn, who had been tipped to be ousted after openly opposing Corbyn last year over military action in Syria, kept his job.
The reshuffles have sparked criticism by some other Labour members.
Media reports say, three Labour MPs have quit the party's front bench in protest at Corbyn's decision.
Jonathan Reynolds and Stephen Doughty quit over the sacking of the shadow Europe minister Pat McFadden.
