UN nuclear watchdog chief visits Parchin military site in Iran
Director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Yukiya Amano has paid a ceremonial visit to Iran’s Parchin military site near the capital Tehran.
Amano visited some of Parchin’s workshops about which there have been some allegations, as well as a nearby construction site. The IAEA chief was on a one-day visit to Tehran where he held talks with senior officials including President Hassan Rouhani. The Iranian president told Amano that Tehran wants the IAEA to monitor the implementation of Iran’s nuclear deal with the P5+1 fairly. Amano also met with members of an ad hoc committee that the Iranian Parliament has tasked with monitoring the nuclear talks’ conclusion. He said the IAEA is committed to keeping secret the confidential issues regarding Iran's nuclear program. Amano also described his visit to Iran as constructive.
