Press TV has conducted an interview with Danny Makki, a Middle East expert, in London, and Mehmet Solmaz, a news editor at Daily Sabah, in Istanbul, to discuss the Turkish AK Party’s failure to secure a majority in the recent parliamentary elections.
Makki believes that foreign policy plays a major role in Turkey’s political arena, adding that President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s performance during these years has left the country without any ally in the Middle East region, and this prepared the ground for the historic victory of the Turkish opposition parties, who are totally opposed to the Turkish government policy toward other countries such as Syria.
Solmaz maintains that the AK Party’s weak performance in the elections has nothing to do with foreign policy, adding that there is no evidence to prove the allegations on Turkey’s support for Takfiri terrorists in Syria.
