Police probe into Oxfordshire killings continues
In the UK, the hunt for a man suspected of killing his mother, her partner and their six-year-old daughter in Oxfordshire has entered its second day.
Search dogs and armed police are combing Oxford University Parks, where Jed Allen was previously employed, to find clues regarding the 21-year-old’s whereabouts.
The hunt began on Saturday when the bodies of Janet Jordan, 48, Phillip Howard, 44 and the six-year-old Derrin Jordon were found at their home in Didcot, Oxfordshire.
Tributes have been pouring into the family at a time that has been described as “a tragic shock”.
Relatives and family members have been informed and are receiving help.
Jed Allen’s cousin, Tyler Clarke has urged the suspect to give himself in to police: “No one can believe what has happened. The first thing I knew about it was when I saw it on the news. We just want to know why. But only Jed knows what has happened.
Detective Superintendent, Chris Ward from Thames Valley police major crime unit spoke at a press briefing on the incident: “As you may well have seen, there have been officers conducting searches in a number of areas in Oxford and Didcot today,” Ward said. “It is vital that we trace Jed Allen and I would urge anyone who has any information about his whereabouts to contact police via the 101 number.”
Ward said of Allen: “He is now a suspect in this inquiry and it’s very important we locate him as quickly as possible. He is described as 6ft tall, of large build and, distinctively, he has a tattoo on his left hand of a spider.”
A woman who lives on the same road as the victims said: “they are new neighbours and had only been here a couple of months – I don’t know their names,” she said. “I used to see them: a lovely mother and a little girl. They always looked so happy … All I can say is that I am very upset, it is all very traumatic.”
Jane Ilott, Jordon’s former landlady in Kidlington, Oxfordshire, described the victim as “beautiful” and “absolutely cracking”. She said: “I didn’t know Jed as a 6ft man, I know him as a little fella who was really struggling. He absolutely loved his mum and she him.”
