Taking too many medication in France worries health officials

Studies by medical professionals reveal a large number of wrong prescriptions.
And a large number of patients who instead of being cured become even more sick, with a majority above the age of 65.

This year’s winter was a stark reminder of the consequences. France saw a sharp rise in the number of deaths due to the winter flu epidemic that killed over 8000 patients.

Compared to their European neighbors, the French are biggest buyers of medicines.

On an average, a French person spends more than a hundred Euros every year over medication.

Health professionals want to raise awareness on the importance of taking the right medicines.

But it could take months before the first impacts are felt in a country that takes the highest number of pills in Europe.
