This is Gawadar port which Pakistan and China have built together in the southwest of the country. The new port is expected to become operationalized by mid this year.
Through this port, China will have an alternative strategic access to Arabian sea, Indian Ocean, Persian Gulf and Straight of Hurmuz which may neutralize American and Indian navy presence there.
The Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is in Islamabad to talk about Pakistani leaders the details of over 45 billion dollar economic projects such as the constructions of more than 2700 kilometer long roads to link Gawadar port to Chinese city of Kashgar.
Bejing is also setting up six nuclear reactors in Pakistan after the US denied similar deal to Islamabad. Pakistan is concerned over strategic partnership between Washington and New Delhi after the US finalized the controversial civil nuclear agreements with India.
The Chinese Foreign Minister has confirmed that his country's President would soon visit Islamabad probably next month on the eve of Pakistan's national day. Analysts say that the Chinese President's official visit would be aimed at sending political signals to Washington and New Delhi which last month hosted US President Obama who skipped visiting Pakistan.
