Asian powerhouse Iran took on the undefeated UAE in their final Group C match in Brisbane, in hot drenched weather, packed with moths and humid conditions that none of the teams had previously experienced in the tournament.
With both Teams battling to snatch the 3 points from this game to come on top of the group, fans lined up for this important match from several hours before, each having mixed predictions about the end results:
The stadium having hosted Australia and South Korea in a full house only drew a little more than 11 thousand strong football fans this time.
However the Brisbane stadium hasn’t been without its controversies receiving many complaints from coaches due to the poor condition of the field, the officials had no choice but to change the grass in many section of the field,

However, Reza Ghoochannejhad’s stoppage time goal handed Iran a crucial win over the Emiratis and triggered joyful celebrations among Iranian fans inside the stadium. The win takes the Iranians to Canberra for their next match with a boosted morale as the squad hope to carry on their winning run all the way to the finals.
Iran will face Group D runners-up in their next game in Canberra on Friday in a match that could see them qualify to the semi finals. But how well the squad will do remains to be seen.
